Burns Lake (pop. 2,100) is located about 2 hours west of Prince George in the heart of BC's Lakes District, an area with 4,828 km/3,000 mi of lake shoreline.
Burns Lake is surrounded by wilderness and some of BC's largest freshwater lakes, such as Babine Lake, where sport fishing is a popular activity for both locals and tourists. The town’s economy is based on logging, sawmilling and mining.

Burns Lake is known as the "Northern Gateway" to Tweedsmuir Provincial Park, the largest wilderness park in British Columbia and a magnet for outdoor recreationists.
