Keynote speaker, Julia Belluz, host of “Show Me the Evidence”, a journalist and senior health correspondent for Vox, joins us to examine the science behind major headlines in health and medicine. Julia has covered topics including the anti-vaccine movement, shed light on major American health problems, and debunked popular pseudoscience media figures. The therapeutics initiative faculty will share their expertise on various important therapeutics issues important to primary care and specialty medicine.  Speakers: Dr. Aaron Tejani Dr. Tom Perry Julia Belluz Dr. Jamie Falk Dr. Josh Levin Learning objectives: Integrate evidence for the impact of SGLT2i on patient-relevant outcomes into clinical decision-making for patients with type 2 diabetes Apply our current understanding of SGLT2i adverse events to decisions for individual patients regarding if to use, how to use, and how to monitor this class of drugs Evaluate efficacy, harm, cost, and burden of SGLT2i use in the context of other drug and non-drug modalities used in the management of diabetes Become familiar with some of the evidence for prescribing exercise in the primary care setting Become familiar with the key components of an effective exercise prescription Become familiar with some of the most common barriers faced when trying to get patients more physically active, as well as some tips for overcoming them How to join: Registration required - https://ubccpd.ca/learn/learning-activities/course?eventtemplate=143-therapeutics-initiative-bringing-best-evidence-to-clinicians - after registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing the login information to join.  Agenda and more information CME: This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved for up to 3.75 MOC credits.
