BCPSQC Clinician Fellowship launch

Date

The BC Patient Safety & Quality Council (the Council) has launched a Clinician Fellowship in Health Care Quality! Applications will be accepted until May 14.

The new program will support two physicians or nurse practitioners to advance their expertise in quality and patient safety while contributing to province-wide initiatives that are seeking to improve the quality of care in our health system.

The two fellows will be embedded in the team at the Council for one year beginning in fall 2021 and funded for one day per week for fellowship activities. Scheduling is anticipated to be flexible to account for clinical work and other personal and professional activities.

Fellows will be immersed in all aspects of a quality initiative, including attending stakeholder meetings, supporting the publication of findings and contributing their clinical and academic expertise. They will also benefit from mentorship from clinical and administrative leaders.

Together with the BC Academic Health Science Network, fellows will have access to a network of scholars and researchers with a focus on learning health systems, patient-oriented research, health care quality and patient safety. This partnership also provides fellows with the opportunity to receive mentorship and guidance with regards to publication and research activities linked to the projects in which they’re involved.

Prospective fellows are encouraged to explore the Council’s areas of work to identify the best fit with their interests. Interested applicants can sign up to attend one of two information sessions on April 16 or April 19 for an opportunity to learn more about the fellowship and what to expect.

Visit the Council’s website to find out more, and if you have any questions about the opportunity, please contact Andrew Wray, the Council’s Executive Director of Learning, Analytics and Strategic Initiatives.
