There is a drug shortage of Lidocaine 1% with epinephrine 1:100,000 - vials. Both drug companies producing this product are having manufacturing delays. The Pfizer brand is on backorder with no stock, anticipated availability is Spring 2018. The Fresenius Kabi brand has intermittent supply as production has not been able to meet increased demand due to Pfizer backorder.
NH stock status: NH stock of lidocain 1% with epinephrine 1:100,000 will deplete intermittently as stock is only available for purchase/distribution in limited quantities as product becomes available. Supply will be intermittent for the next several months.
Clinicians should be aware of potential for stock-out situations monthly and need to use alternate products.
