Expression of interest: Medical Lead - Primary and Community Care

Northern Health would like to invite eligible Physicians to indicate their interest in the following position: 

  • Medical Lead – Primary and Community Care
  • 0.40 FTE

Expressions of interest must be delivered in written form with a current resume by February 11, 2021.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE: This position works in a Co-Leadership relationship with the Executive Lead, Primary and Community Care and the Director of Nurse Practitioner. The Medical Lead Primary and Community  brings the primary care physician perspective to the senior leadership team and promotes and supports physician engagement and involvement in the range of initiatives under the Northern Health Primary and Community Care Program. Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Develops innovative physician engagement strategies that ensure physician involvement in program planning, program implementation, health services integration, coordination and evaluation of the NH Primary and Community Care Program;
  • In partnership with Divisions and Family Practice, supports the advancement of team based primary and community care services within a Primary Care Network;
  • Stimulates and advances quality improvement in primary care using data, evidence informed practice guidelines, standards, policies and research, and supports the application of evidence and learning to enhance the patient care experience;
  • Facilitates alignment of initiatives within the policy directions of the Doctors of BC, the General Practice Services Committee (GPSC), Ministry of Health (MOH), and other relevant organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Medical degree and current registration with the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons
  2. Have experience and history of being a successful physician leader
  3. Active Medical Staff membership in Northern Health
  4. Maintenance of an active primary care medical practice
