Background: It was brought to our attention that the kits used to perform MONONUCLEOSIS testing are backordered with the expected recovery by middle of September. Northern Health Stores Department is out of stock at this moment. NH laboratories are working together to distribute the kits between sites. As well, an inquiry was placed with PHSA supply chain to secure a replacement.
Action: If sites are out of MONO kits, we recommend ordering Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) instead. Be aware EBV is a send-out test and results are delayed. We are hoping this solution to be temporary until the backorder is resolved or until NH can validate a different product. We apologize for the disruption, and we will provide updates as they become available.
