Recently, Providence Health released a medication safety practice alert regarding the pediatric medication resource Pedi STAT. Pediatric dosing errors, medications not indicated for use in pediatrics, and other information within the app have led to patient safety events.
Pedi STAT is an American-based resource that has not been verified by any national or international regulatory body. Its dosing guidelines do not align with provincially approved resources such as those developed by the BC Children’s Hospital.
Child Health BC along with other health authorities do not endorse this app and it should not be used as a reference. For pediatric care in BC, resources are available from the BC Children’s Hospital and clinicians are encouraged to refer to this information.
