Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV

Date

If you have patients who may be at increased risk for acquiring HIV, correct and consistent use of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) can help. PrEP is provincially funded and free of charge to most residents of BC through the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS. In addition to local clinicians who prescribe PrEP, as of September 19, 2022, NH residents can also access treatment through the BCCDC’s TelePrEP program. This program provides virtual access to PrEP, including assessment, enrolment, ongoing monitoring and prescribing. Patients can call the BCCDC’s Sexual Health Clinic at 604-707-5600 and request a TelePrEP appointment for Northern Health.

Learn more about prescribing PrEP yourself, or supporting patients in accessing TelePrEP.
