The issue: pre-mixed morphine sulfate 2 mg/mL X 100 mL IV bags from Baxter CIVA are on long term backorder. NH sites that have historically stocked these bags will need to permanently change over to the commercially manufactured product from Sterinova which comes in a different concentration (morphine sulfate 1 mg/mL X 100 mL bag). The Sterinova bags are already used at several NH sites and switching over to this product is in accordance with best practice principles for providing commercially prepared medications whenever possible.
