Rural Physician Mentoring Program now accepting new applicants!

The Rural Physician Mentoring Program is now accepting new applicants for their program beginning August 2017. The program offers support for physicians who are new to rural practice in BC (mentees). The goal of the program is to facilitate this transition by pairing them with well-established and experienced rural physicians (mentors).

The applications deadline for the next cohort is June 30. Sign up now as a mentor or a mentee!

When: August 2017 - June 2018 (10 months)
Target audience for mentors: experienced rural family physicians and specialists
Target audience for mentees: physicians who are new to rural practice in BC

Up to 34.0 Mainpro+ (2cr/hr) or 5.0 MOC Section 1 + additional MOC section 2 & 3 credits available.

Highlights:

  • no cost to participate
  • mentors receive an honorarium
  • formal, structured mentoring relationship supported by a facilitated mentor training session, a mentoring handbook, and optional check-in calls with fellow participants, program staff, and guest speakers
  • mentees are facilitated in transition to a new practice environment
  • mentors can develop and enhance their skills as physician leaders
