Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) Availability and Patient Screening

An important update for all health care providers has been released from the Northern Health laboratory:

• As of December 13, 2017, referral labs in BC resumed Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) testing.
• NH labs are accepting FIT requisitions and FIT samples again.
• Patients who had submitted FITs but were not processed will be recalled in January by the lab where they presented their requisition.
• Patients who had submitted FIT samples that were processed, but no result was reported due to the reagent issues, will receive a letter from the referral lab who performed the test. A copy will also be sent to their ordering provider.
