British Columbia’s Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS offers HIV Intensive Preceptorship training for physicians and nurse practitioners in health authorities in British Columbia.

The Preceptorship is CFPC and Mainpro+ accredited, and consists of three modules:

3. Mentorship with an experienced HIV physician (3 months).

A small number of positions are being supported and held for providers who work in the Northern Health region. Interested physicians and nurse practitioners are encouraged to contact Joanna Paterson (Lead, Chronic Diseases Strategic Initiatives - joanna.paterson@northernhealth.ca) by 4 pm on Tuesday January 30, 2018 to discuss funding opportunities.

PROGRAM FOCUS:
Trainees who have learned successfully in this preceptorship program will have acquired competence and confidence to provide the primary care management of HIV positive patients, informed by the principles of Treatment as Prevention® and Targeted Disease Elimination™. Most importantly, they will be able to:
• Assess patients and initiate Antiretroviral therapy as appropriate;
