Nurse Practitioner prescribing standards for opiod treatment coming into effect February 14, 2018

Date

The College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia has announced CRNBC will be putting into effect the standards, limits and conditions related to NPs prescribing of opioid agonist treatment on February 14, 2018.

This is a significant milestone, and would not have been possible without the input and expertise of many CRNBC partners, including the Ministry of Health, College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC, College of Pharmacists of BC, and the BC Centre on Substance Use. They would also like to thank the members of CRNBC’s Nurse Practitioner Standards Committee, the NP Educators, the NP Leads and the many NPs who participated in the consultations, as their support and collaboration on this important work was valued and appreciated.

CRNBC is completing a final testing on the controlled prescription pad ordering system, with the goal of having it live early next week. The college will post an announcement on their website when it’s ready.
