The Issue: dimercaprol 300 mg vials have been discontinued in Canada. The BC Drug and Poison Information Centre (DPIC) has advised that select sites in each health authority should stock an alternate product for heavy metal poisoning due to lead, mercury or arsenic: dimercaptopropane sulfonic acid 50 mg/mL X 5 mL injectable.
