Meet Our Team
Physician Lead – Dr. Ian Schokking
Dr. Ian Schokking, MD has practiced as a family physician in Prince George since 1994 and is the Prince George CME coordinator. Dr. Schokking is a fellow of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. He has been awarded the Ernie Haynes Fellowship, CIDA Award for Canadians and the Royal Canadian Legion Gerontology Fellowship. He is also a member of the BCMA CME Nucleus Committee and the Physician Education Steering Committee. His medical interests include psycho-geriatrics, sports medicine and emergency medicine.
Executive Lead, Physician Quality – Candice Manahan
Candice is from Northern BC and has always had a passion for supporting health care in her community. In her current role, Candice supports physicians in quality improvement, leadership development and other education. Her career has been dedicated to improving rural health services for Northerners, with a focus on supporting health care providers to make the changes they
Physician Education Liaison – Heather Gummow
Heather Gummow was born and raised in Prince George and loves the North! As the Physician Education Liaison, Heather helps plan, organize, navigate funding, and accredit educational sessions/events throughout Northern Health. Heather has worked in Medical Affairs at Northern Health for 7 years, and her dedication to supporting physicians has helped her excel in the physician education team. Heather’s key aim is to improve patient care by increasing and improving access to education for rural and remote physicians within the health authority.
