Northern Health is pleased to announce the appointment of DR. DIETRICH FURSTENBURG to the position of NI Rural Medical Director effective October 1, 2017. Dr. Dick Raymond will be stepping down from his position as NI Rural Medical Director at the end of September 2017.
Dr. Furstenburg is a GP-Emergency/Obstetrics at GR Baker Memorial Hospital in Quesnel. Dr. Furstenburg also currently holds the positions of Chief of Staff at GR Baker Memorial Hospital and is co-chair of NI MAC.
In his new role, Dr. Furstenburg will be responsible for providing effective leadership in planning, delivering, and evaluating medical services which includes the quality and performance of the medical staff for the Northern Interior Rural region, which includes Quesnel, Mackenzie, McBride and Valemount. He will work collaboratively with communities and physicians to recruit and retain physicians.
Northern Health has adopted a co-leadership model that informs the way in which medical and administrative leaders work collaboratively to advance the NH strategic direction and goals. The NI Rural Medical Director works in co-leadership with the NI Chief Operating Officer.
