Northern Health will present on the MicrobloggingMD (MBMD) secure texting project currently underway within Northern Health and will also guide you through the steps required to enroll your mobile devices (smartphones/tablets) into this system.
The MBMD secure texting app is a secure replacement to the unsecure practice of SMS texting. MBMD allows physicians to securely message any other Northern Health MBMD user patient information in a manner that is compliant with the privacy laws of BC.
Taken from the Project Charter:
The [MBMD Secure Texting app] is being undertaken to implement an integrated solution offering Secure Texting, Cerner Alerts plus access to consolidated On Call Schedules for Northern Health Authority (NHA) Healthcare providers. The [MBMD secure texting app] will help reduce communication challenges being experienced by Physicians, Nurses, Pharmacists and Allied Health Professionals.
Secure Texting will create a direct communication network between Northern Health healthcare providers. Secure Texting will support sharing of confidential information between healthcare providers in a manner that is compliant with the privacy laws of BC.
*The ability to leverage Secure Texting to broadcast pertinent information to Physicians (Physician Broadcast) in case of emergency with options to inform + reply, will also be introduced.
Cerner Alerts will provide notification and visibility to patient information from Cerner for Admission/Discharge/Transfer, Orders and Results. Physicians will be able to choose which alerts they wish to receive.
Integrated On-Call Schedules will provide current on call information from multiple on call systems used within NHA including MOCAP and Bytebloc. The On Call information will provide a consolidated view to On Call Schedules for NHA Physicians
