This program is supported in part by an educational grant by Novo Nordisk Canada and GlaxoSmithKline.  Speakers: Dr. Jesse Pewarchuck, MD FRCPC, Internal Medicine  Dr. Pearce Wilcox, MD FRCPC, Respirologist Dr. Akshay Jain, MD FRCPC, Endocrinologist Moderator: Dr. Walter Chow, MD CCFP Learning objectives: Review the biological, physiological and environmental factors related to the pathophysiology of obesity and how they impact disease progression and metabolic disease Evaluate best approaches to obesity management and demonstrate how to initiate patient discussions that address challenges in obesity management in primary care Explore strategies for the management of obesity, including improving treatment adherence and advising weight regain over the long term in adult patient population Describe the place of triple inhaled therapy versus dual bronchodilators in the management of COPD, and how treatable traits should drive the choice of treatment Discuss the selection of inhaled drug therapy for COPD according to patient  Describe the differences in each use, minimum inspiratory flow requirements and peak inspiratory slow requirements for various COPD inhaler types Discuss the safety profile of inhaled corticosteroids in triple combination for COPD Evaluate how GLP-1 RAs work as well as their role in the management of type 2 diabetes (T2DM), including current Diabetes Canada recommendations for their use Compare the efficacy, safety, and cardiovascular outcomes of current and emerging long-acting GLP-1RAs, and assess how these factors influence treatment selection Discuss practical considerations for using GLP-1RAs in primary care, focusing on individualized treatment How to join: For more information and RSVP please contact mzs@novonordisk.com or call 1-250-661-4666.
