Background information:

The NH (Northern Health) Medical Staff Rules (“the Rules”) apply to all members of NH’s Medical Staff, whether independent practitioners, contracted practitioners, or employees. The Rules are established by the NH Board upon the recommendation of the NH Medical Advisory Committee (NHMAC), pursuant to Article 12 of the Bylaws, and provide specificity and detail to the articles of the NH Medical Staff Bylaws.

The Rules govern the relationship between NH and its medical staff, and address requirements laid out in the Hospital Act and Hospital Act Regulation. The Rules also address the accountability medical staff members have for their day-to-day practice in the facilities and programs operated by NH.

NH and its medical staff are committed to providing a workplace and service environment where everyone feels respected and valued (patients, clients, visitors, clinical trainees, learners, staff, and colleagues). NH’s shared vision of an equitable, anti-racist, and culturally safe health system begins with a foundation of mutual respect and inclusivity in the workplace; ensuring all individuals are treated with respect, free from discrimination, racism, and harassment; and are supported in the respectful management of workplace conflict.

Medical Staff Town Halls are an opportunity to get the latest information from NH leaders and ask questions about topics that have been identified as a priority by medical staff. For each session, NH’s leadership will give a brief presentation, then provide an opportunity for medical staff to ask questions or provide comments.
