Dr. Janz will talk about how to prepare families and patients with late frailty or dementia as they approach their natural death, and how to provide best possible quality of life on this journey. Goals of Care conversations will be modelled around CPR, ICU, feeding tubes, hip fracture, pneumonia, and avoiding potentially burdensome medical interventions, including major surgery and hospitalization. Providing meticulous pain and symptom management at end-of-life will be reviewed, with plenty of time for questions.Rural Rounds presentations are tailored specifically for the unique practice context of rural health care providers. Sessions feature relevant topics, exemplative case studies and an opportunity to connect with fellow rural providers.
