Session 1: Autism Plus - Identifying co-morbid psychiatric conditions Dr. Jennifer Russel, Dr. Jennifer Begg, Dr. Robin Friedlander, and Patient Partners Autism and related Neurodevelopmental disorders ( NDD’s), such as Intellectual disability and FASD, typically present with co-morbid psychiatric conditions such as ADHD, Anxiety, tics, OCD and mood disorders. This presentation will review diagnostic overshadowing (referring to the diagnostic error of seeing the autism and misattributing all the symptoms to that underlying neurodevelopmental condition) common psychiatric presentations associated with Autism. Several cases will be reviewed and a family perspective will be integrated throughout the presentation.
