The first Physician Quality Improvement (PQI) Summit was held on November 19, 2019 in Vancouver. It was attended by over 400 physicians, key partners from BC Health Authorities and the BC Ministry of Health.

Applications are now being accepted for the available 2018/2019 Seed Grants. Funding opportunities are available to a maximum of $5000 per quality improvement initiative.

The sole source vendor of EPINEPHrine 1 mg/mL X 30 mL vials is on backorder with no alternative vendors available. Further to this, the April 2019 expiry lot available has been recalled due to a potential for decreased efficacy.

The College develops practice standards and professional guidelines to assist physicians in meeting high standards of medical practice and conduct. The topics focus on specific issues that are relevant to the practice of medicine.

Northern Health is rolling out a new secure texting app called MicrobloggingMD (MBMD) to Physicians that enables sharing of confidential Patient information in a manner that is compliant with the privacy laws of BC and can also be used for consult requests.

Erythromycin 5 mg/g ophthalmic ointment 1 g and 3.5 g tubes is single source from Pharmascience who have indicated this week that the drug is on back order until at least the end of January 2019.

Vancomycin 500 mg and 1 g vials are on a national shortage and all vendors are unable to supply.
