The Physician Quality Improvement (PQI) team is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Denise Jaworsky (she/her) into the role of SSC PQI QI Champion. The PQI Initiative is one of two flagship programs of the Specialist Services Committee (SSC).
The Issue: Bupivacaine HCl 0.25% with EPINEPHrine 1:200,000 injection is on backorder and bupivacaine HCl 0.5% with EPINEPHrine 1:200,000 injection is on reduced order allocation (from both Canadian suppliers).
Issue: After a recent drug recall affecting all stock on the market, attapulgite (Kaopectate®) 40 mg/mL oral suspension has now been discontinued in Canada. NH does not currently have any supply on hand in any facilities.
Northern RACE (Rapid Access to Consultative Expertise) is an advice line to support primary care providers in Northern BC. Northern specialist physicians will provide telephone support for non-urgent, patient-related questions.
Issue: After being on long-term backorder for approximately 2 years, chloroquine 250 mg tablets have now been discontinued by the only manufacturer in Canada. NH does not currently have any supply on hand in any facilities.
Resolution: The shortage of acetylcholine chloride 10 mg/mL (Miochol®-E) ophthalmic drops is now resolved.
