On January 1, 2025, the Inpatient Doctor of the Day, and the Unassigned Network Care services at UHNBC will amalgamate to become the Primary Care Inpatient Service (PCIS).

Resolution: Supply has improved and NH pharmacy has been able to access sufficient stock of EPINEPHrine 1 mg/10 mL pre-filled syringes (PFS) for wardstock areas and crash kits. 

Drug:Salbutamol nebules (all formats) – 2.5 mg/2.5mL and 5 mg/2.5mL

Classification:β2-agonist bronchodilator

Indication:Treatment of bronchospasm

Starting January 1, 2025, the University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC) will launch the Primary Care Inpatient Service (PCIS) to provide care for unassigned, unattached, and out-of-town patients.

The issue: Hydroxocobalamin 5g vials (Cyanokits®) are on shortage and although there is stock available across the region currently, it is difficult to obtain replacements if a kit is used.

Clinical use: Antidote; cyanide poisoning
