Resolution: Following a recall in September 2021 that affected most of the losartan supply in Canada (due to the presence of an azido impurity), some vendors now have a resupply and this shortage can be considered resolved.

In a provincial and national rarity, Northern Health (NH) has been recognized by the BC Provincial Blood Coordinating Office (PBCO).

Dr. Faiza Jabbar has worked as a psychiatrist at the University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC) in Prince George for almost ten years.

The issue: Heparin 10,000 units/mL X 0.5 mL vials are currently not available to order and ETA for resupply is scheduled for April 2022; however, this date may change. NH has approximately 4-6 weeks of supply left in pharmacies and wardstock locations.

The issue: Ondansetron 4 mg oral disintigrating tablets (ODT) are currently not available to order and NH pharmacy has low supply. Some sites may stock out of this strength before the get well date.

Estimated availability: April 2022

The issue: Pfizer has announced a shortage of the LifeShield™ calcium chloride 100 mg/mL (10%) X 10 mL pre-filled syringes (PFS) and will soon be unable to meet NH usage requirements.

The issue: Pfizer has issued a voluntary recall of several lots of propranolol extendedrelease capsules (Inderal-LA®; 60 mg, 80 mg, 120 mg, and 160 mg strengths) due to the presence of impurity N-nitroso-propranolol above the acceptable concentration limit.
